SEPTEMBER
Post-Secondary planning is starting right away! The first thing you will be doing is meeting in small groups with your school counselor. During this meeting, you will learn about the Common App, transcript request forms, and matching Common App to Naviance. For a copy of the senior packet, stop by guidance.
After the first week in school, you will be receiving a notification in the mail to review your transcript. This is a very important step to do so that we ensure that the transcripts we send to Colleges are accurate. Errors do happen, so look it over carefully. Notify your counselors of any errors or questions.
Make sure to connect your Common App and Naviance accounts!
1. Complete the Education Section of the Common App
2. Go to the College Search tab and add at least 1 college to your list
3. Click on My Colleges tab-the college you added should be there
4. Complete the FERPA agreement from the left side bar.
5. Sign onto your Naviance account, click on the Colleges tab
6. Click on colleges I’m applying to and read information.
Type email address you used to set up Common App. Click Match

Transcript Request Form Deadlines to the Registrar
In October, about 40% of our Seniors are submitting applications and requesting transcripts for either the October 15th or Nov. 1st deadlines. Don't wait until the last minute to submit! If you plan to apply by one of these dates and have not yet spoken to a teacher(s) about letters of recommendations, you need to get a move on it! Teachers get a lot of requests and may not be able to write a letter for you if you wait too long!
Make sure to follow these deadlines listed below:

MARKING PERIOD 4 BEGINS APRIL 2nd
Marking Period 3 grades will be posted on the portal on TBD.. As you enter the final quarter of the year, make sure you are fully aware of what your in-progress final course grade is. Speak with your teacher if you are unsure. The last quarter is the shortest-only about 7 weeks (last two weeks are final/Regents exams). Pay attention especially to your Physical Education grade as it is a Graduation Requirement!

Please go on to Naviance and complete the Post-Secondary survey. This is how we collect information on the colleges you have been accepted, denied, wait-listed etc. We also ask you to complete this so we know that college you plan on attending. This is also necessary to insure that we include it in the Graduation program! The data we collect from this survey will help future Calhoun students!
